About
Every job posting names the qualities a company wants: ownership, judgment, attention to detail, collaboration. Many never say how those qualities will be measured. That gap is my field.
I'm an Assistant Professor of Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Colorado State University. My research covers fairness in assessment, authenticity at work, and machine learning in personnel decisions. Through Prasad & Associates I do the applied version of the same work, helping organizations close the distance between what they say they hire for and what they actually measure.
I also sit on the other side of this work. I chair doctoral admissions for our I/O psychology program and serve on faculty search committees in the psychology department, with a chair term coming up. Small numbers, high stakes, no room for a sloppy measure. It keeps me honest about what's hard.
AI runs through all of it, applied honestly. I use it to make careful assessment development fast enough to be practical: construct definitions, calibrated interview questions, behaviorally anchored rating scales in days instead of quarters. What it speeds up is drafting and calibration. What it doesn't replace is defining the construct and judging whether the thing actually works. That part is still the job.
The through-line in both halves of my work is the same. The rigor of the research literature, at the speed a working business needs.
